Far from the busy beaches, out in the open Andaman Sea, lie two island groups that many consider the finest snorkelling spots reachable from Phuket. This trip is made for travellers who value peace, quiet and time in the water over crowded viewpoints.
Koh Rok is a pair of jungle-covered islands within Mu Ko Lanta National Park, separated by a narrow channel and fringed with powder-white sand and remarkably clear water. Koh Haa is a cluster of small limestone islets rising straight out of the sea, with a sheltered shallow lagoon and excellent visibility that make it a favourite with snorkellers.
Expect bright coral gardens, schools of tropical fish and shades of turquoise that look almost unreal. It is a relaxed, unhurried day centred on swimming, floating over the reef and simply enjoying a remote corner of Thailand.
