It's a sandy strip about 4 km long at the end of a river delta, surrounded by mountains and pine forests. Seen from above, İztuzu Beach from Ölüdeniz looks almost like a long peninsula surrounded by nothing but nature. Forming a natural barrier between the Dalyan River and the Mediterranean Sea, this place is a mix of stunning, untouched natural beauty and an important nesting site for the endangered Caretta Caretta sea turtles.
The Lycian Tombs of Ancient Kaunos
The impressive tombs carved into the rock are the most remarkable examples of funerary architecture in Kaunos. They are truly one of Turkey's ancient architectural wonders, carved into the cliffs overlooking the town of Dalyan. Their temple-like facades, built around 400 BC, indicate that the tombs were created for kings and queens. For safety reasons and to protect the tombs from damage, visitors are not allowed to climb the rock. However, you can admire every detail from our boat, since the view from the river side is the best way to see this landmark.

As for the itinerary: after a short 45-minute drive, we arrive in the town of Dalyan, where we switch to river boats to reach the sights of this unique area. The river boat cruise through the maze-like channels among tall reeds adds a touch of exotic atmosphere to the journey.
Our first stop is the mud baths and thermal springs, which over the years have attracted many famous visitors, such as Dustin Hoffman, Sting, and David Bowie.
Next, we head to İztuzu Beach, home to the rare Caretta Caretta turtles, but along the way we'll make a couple more stops: at the magnificent rock tombs visible from Ölüdeniz, and for catching Blue Crabs near Ölüdeniz. The tombs, by the way, belonged to the kings of ancient Lycia and date back to the 4th century BC. And catching crabs is a fantastic activity for kids — expect a ton of excitement (and just as many happy photos).
