A short hop off the Sattahip coast lies Ko Kham, nicknamed the Emerald Island for the vivid turquoise of its water. Nobody lives on the island. It also sits inside a protected marine area, so the beach feels remarkably unspoilt and quiet.
Speedboats and jet skis are kept out of the lagoon, which means you swim in calm water without any engine noise. Just offshore, a bed of sea anemones shelters clownfish, the little orange stars of Finding Nemo. On land you can paddle a kayak, follow a jungle trail up to a viewpoint or simply claim a hammock in the shade. Showers, toilets and a small bar are on site.
Child fares are based on height, and children under 90 cm travel free. Guests who are drunk or under the influence of drugs may be refused boarding.
Passport copy, swimwear, towel, hat, sunscreen, a camera and some cash for drinks.
