Swap the busy city beaches for a calm, well-kept stretch of sand about 45 km from Pattaya. Nang Ram Beach lies in Sattahip on land looked after by the Royal Thai Navy, which is why it stays remarkably clean and orderly compared with many public beaches nearby.
Often called the Dancing Girl Beach, Nang Ram is split into two coves by a small rocky outcrop. One side is the more scenic of the two and tends to draw bigger crowds, but you have the whole day to swim and sunbathe on both. Rows of casuarina trees provide welcome natural shade.
Facilities are good: there is a restaurant, toilets, showers and sunbeds, plus water fun such as jet skis, banana boats and inflatable rings for those who want a bit of action.
