Just south of Pattaya lies Nong Nooch, one of Thailand's best-loved landscaped parks. Founded on land bought by Mrs Nong Nooch and her husband in 1954, it has grown into a vast open-air showcase of plants gathered from around the world and is still cared for every day by a huge team of gardeners.
Expect orchids hanging in baskets under the open sky, cactus gardens, an enormous palm and fern collection, a French garden inspired by Versailles and a scaled-down Stonehenge. A valley of life-size dinosaurs, a garage of classic cars and a pond with giant arapaima fish keep children just as entertained as the adults.
With a Russian-speaking guide you spend around four and a half hours exploring the grounds and watch both the elephant show and a traditional Thai folk performance.
