There is nothing quite like the tug of a fish on the line far out at sea. This full-day trip takes you away from Pattaya's busy beaches into the open Gulf of Thailand, where you spend the day bottom fishing over spots the local crew knows well.
Groups are kept to a maximum of 13 anglers. The boat drifts with the current while you fish from one side without casting, at depths of 8 to 35 metres, using cut squid as bait. Expect a lively mix of perch, mackerel and scad species: smaller fish bite often, bigger ones less so, which keeps everyone busy. The crew is keen to see the group land a good catch, and 2-3 extra rods with live bait are set out in case something larger comes along.
Everyone gets a light-class rod, a Shimano FX 4000 spinning reel, LB30 line, a Japanese Sabiki rig and sinkers matched to the conditions. If you prefer, you can tie your own rig on board, as all materials are available.
