Swap the busy beaches for a quiet day by the water. Around 15 km outside Pattaya, a large lake inside a dedicated fishing park offers relaxed sport fishing for catfish, along with plenty of other species, including the impressive alligator gar and other sizeable fish.
The park sees very few tourists, so you can enjoy calm surroundings and shaded gazebos right on the shore. There is a cook, a barbecue, a restaurant and a bar serving soft drinks and alcohol at modest prices, plus a small pool where you can see which fish live in the lake. There is no time limit on fishing, so stay as long as you like during opening hours.
Only small fish can be cooked, for an extra fee; large fish are released back into the lake. The trip runs daily and children are welcome.
